Teacher Appreciation Week part 2
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 3, 2016. Here are a couple more ideas using Embroidery Garden designs to show that special teacher that you care.
A personalized key fob is the perfect little thank you for any teacher. Click here for the design.
Most teachers LOVE coffee! If your little student's teacher is anything like me...they drink TONS of coffee all through the day. I used the Monogram Coffee Sleeve from Embroidery Garden and added "Best Teacher". Click here for the Monogram Coffee Sleeve.
As a teacher myself, I really enjoyed making the snowballs for my kindergarten students. However, here is a Teacher Appreciation Day spin on the snowballs. Add "# 1 Teacher" to the face file of the Snowball. I used the fonts from my software. When sewing the panels together, insert a piece of Rick Rack folded upside down at the top of the apple. Once the panels are sewn together like the instructions for the Snowballs. Once the snowball is sewn shut, pinch the middle and sew down the middle like the tomato for the wrist pincushion. Make sure you catch the leaf in those stitches at the top too. Click here for the Snowball design.
Teacher Appreciation Week part 1
Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up! Here are some Embroidery Garden designs that are perfect for that teacher who works hard to educate your sweet student.
See Through cases are fantastic for teachers to use in the classroom and at home. I love putting golden tickets in my see through case at school. It allows for students to see them and get excited to earn them for other rewards. You can purchase this design by clicking here for the pencil cases. Click here for the see through cases.
A little softie is a perfect item to add a little note to your favorite teacher. This is the penguin softie that I added "#1 teacher" to for my favorite kindergarten teacher. This little fella accompanied with chocolate is the perfect gift for any teacher. Click here for the design.
Add a few of Embroidery Garden's flowers to a bouquet and brighten any teacher's day. You could add student's names the tops of the flowers after stitching the original pattern. Click here for the mega flower set.
Stay tuned for part 2 for more ideas using Embroidery Garden designs in new fun ways!

Purses Galore!
Embroidery Garden just sprouted some new purses! Have you tried the new Design Your Own Hipster Purse pattern? Below is a picture of the purses Reen made from this set. Click here to purchase this design. This design comes in three sizes; the 7x12, 8x12, and the 9x14. You can choose what front pocket you want and the lining for the inside.
The Embroidery Garden has a beautiful collection of purses. Below are some examples of a few of Reen's clever and stunning purse designs.
Here is a fall sample of the 2 Zipper Purse Set. These purses also have a back pocket option. This pocket is a great place to add some contrasting fabric to the design. This purse comes in three sizes; the 5x7, 6x10, and the 7x12. In the picture below, you can see the 5x7 purse stitched out. This purchase comes with a flower embellishment. Click here for the 2 Zipper Purse Set.
A similar design but with a single zipper is the Hipster Purse set. You can click here for the set. This purse also has a back pocket that is perfect for a phone. This set comes in two sizes, the 6x10 and the 5x7. I used the back pocket on mine to make it look like the owl is peeking out. My owl purse is the 5x7 size.

One of my favorite purses in Embroidery Garden is the Cross Body bag. Below you can see that I also added a monogram. Most purses allow for a monogram after the quilting of that section is done or once you pull that piece of fabric over the batting that has been secured down. The Cross Body purse collection comes in 4 sizes; the 6x10, 7x12, 8x12, and the 9x14. Below is the 6x10 size. I also love the back pocket with the flap and the optional card lining. You can click here for the design.
The Embroidery Garden even sells patterns for a clutch! The Clutch Purse Set pictured below, can also be made into a purse with straps if you would like to add them. I love the card lining and large flap on this design. You can add a monogram to the flap if you so desire. Click here for a link to the Clutch Purse Set. This set comes in three sizes; the 5x7, 6x10, and the 7x12. Below is the 6x10.
The Pleated Monogram Wristlet is a very feminine and sweet purse design. I love the pleats added to the front of the wristlet. This wristlet comes in two sizes, the 5x7 and the 6x10. Below is the 6x10. You can click here for the Wristlet set.
There are several other Embroidery Garden purse designs. Click here to see all of our options! Please post your own purse creations from Embroidery Garden patterns on our Facebook Page or the In the Hoop Group.

Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is fast approaching. As a teacher, I loved getting little homemade Valentine's cards with a hand drawn picture. Over the years I have collected quite a few and have kept every one in a memory box.
Here are a couple Valentine ideas from the Embroidery Garden.
Below is a picture of the penguin softie. I added "#1 Teacher" where the instructions told me to add a name. I also created a teacher gift basket for my favorite Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Doppler, using this softie, some chocolates, and the Embroidery Garden's ruler holders. You could also add the glue stick holders in the basket as well. Teachers can ALWAYS use more supplies! Click here for the penguin softie. Click here for the ruler and glue stick holders.

Kids also love these little penguins. I love using the penguin and putting the kid's name on the belly or a cute heart created by Rhonda Sigrist. Below you can see the penguin softie with Embroidery Garden's Holiday envelopes. I like the small mailboxes available for a dollar at Target. It is always fun to pass mail back and forth:) Click Here for the holiday envelope set that also includes Christmas envelopes. These envelopes would also make a cute envelope for those student homemade pictures I talked about earlier. Click Here for Rhonda's sweet heart design as seen below on the penguin's belly.
Have fun and share your Valentine creations! The Garden looks forward to seeing your creativity!

Sewing Room Organization
Embroidery Garden in the Hoop:
Sewing space organization tips
Sewing space organization tips
Do you suffer from over excitement thread toss? I know I do.
Sometimes I get so engulfed in embroidery that all of a sudden supplies and
tools end up being tossed to the side and out of place. Before you know it,
your poor sewing space is all in a heap!
Here are some tips on how to organize your sewing space to
help you stay organized. These tips are inspired by Reen Wilcoxson, Jen
Wilcoxson, and me (KC Wilcoxson).
-Organize thread by
color.
This allows for you to
quickly access the exact color and shade of thread you need. Pictured below is
how Reen has organized her thread by using drawers and a product called Diamond
Drawer Organizer. Not only does this product help organize by color but it also
keeps the thread from moving around inside the drawer.
-Stabilizer holder.
This allows for easy
access to stabilizers and a cute way of storing them. The vinyl pockets allow
for labels to be clearly seen so you know exactly what type of stabilizer is in
each pocket without rummaging through a pile or a bucket of stabilizer.
Pictured below is a stabilizer holder inspired by Jen Wilcoxson created from Gotta
Stitch pattern by Janie Farnell.
-Ribbon Storage
Ribbon can be a tricky
item to store away neatly. Reen and I prefer to store our ribbon using Swing
Arm Slack Hangers. All the colors and patterns are visible from the display
hanger. The ribbon stays in place and doesn’t unravel like it would in a
drawer. These hangers free up a lot of storage space. If you don’t have a
closet in your sewing area, you can always hang the hangers on a handle or even
a wire from a shelf.
-Button Storage
Many people have a
button tin. However, finding a particular button color deems difficult when all
types and colors are freely roaming together within the same tin. I have found
that office desk organizers help to separate buttons if you like to store them
in a drawer. However, buttons can also make cute decor for a sewing space.
Pictured below is a display in Reen’s sewing space. Reen used mason jars to
store the buttons and set them on a cute wooden shelf. This gives Reen’s space
a nice home feel.
-Bobbin Storage
It can be very difficult to find
a way to store bobbins without the bobbins unraveling and getting into one
giant tangle. While spending several hours roaming Pinterest, I found a simple
and neat way of storing bobbins. Take a couple of toe separators, typically
used for painting your toe toes, and place the bobbins in the toe separator.
This would also help with organizing the bobbins by color if you place all of
one color but different shades within the same toe separator. I don’t use very
many different colors for bobbins so I use a desk organizer for mine. I found
one that has a small enough compartments that holds my bobbins in a way where I
can see the thread colors and the bobbins don’t roll around to be tangled.
Below is a picture of the toe separator method as well as the desk organizer
that I use in my sewing drawer.

-Fabric Storage
Each person has their
own way of storing fabric. I find it very difficult to throw out any scraps
that I could possibly use in the future for another design. I typically throw a
piece in my scrap bin if it is 4in by 4 in or smaller. The rest of my fabric is
hung up between metal shelves. This way, I can see what fabric I have and what
fabric I need to get. I have also seen some women hang their large amounts of fabric
on a blanket display.
I really enjoy seeing other people’s
techniques for fabric storage. If you have a snazzy way of organizing your work
space, please comment below! We would love to be inspired by your sewing space!
